Hari Om Ashram Prerit Senior Scientist Award

The Shri Hari Om Ashram Prerit Senior Scientist Award has been instituted in 1998 by the Hari Om Ashram Trust, Nadiad, to commemorate the birth centenary of Pujya Shri Mota, Founder of the Hari Om Ashram, Nadiad. The award of Rs. 2 lakh is made to an Indian scientist (or scienstists) for outstanding contributions in science and technology. An endowment fund, administered by PRL, was created for this purpose by the Hari Om Ashram Trust and the award is made every alternate year.

Hari Om Ashram Prerit Vikram Sarabhai Research Awards

Shri Hari Om Ashram, Nadiad, has instituted an endowment of Rs. 4,00,000/- to the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad for giving Vikram Sarabhai Awards biennially in the fields of :

Space Sciences (Astronomy, Astrophysics, Planetary and Atmospheric Sciences)

Space Applications (Meteorology, Hydrology, Remote Sensing and related ground truths)

Electronics, Informatics, Telematics and Automation

Systems Analysis or Management of nonlinear, non-equilibrium systems in natural sciences, social sciences and technology.

Any scientist can nominate a candidate by sending a two page note summarising the achievements of the candidate together with his/her bio-data. The award, each of value of Rs. 50,000/-, is given to Indian scientists of age not above 45 years for outstanding original research in the above fields, on the recommendation of an Expert Committee constituted by PRL. Nominations should be sent before 31 December 2009 to the Director, Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad – 380 009.


PRL Award

Starting from 1997, PRL has instituted the PRL Award, along the lines of Hari Om Awards, from the Aruna Lal Endowment fund established by Prof. Devendra Lal, Honorary Fellow and a former Director of PRL. The award is given biennially to outstanding Indian scientists for innovative theoretical and/or experimental studies in earth and planetary systems including areas of oceanography, atmospheric sciences and meteorology.

The award carries a medal and a cash prize of Rs.50, 000/-. The other details are same as the Hari Om Ashram Prerit Vikram Sarabhai Research Awards.

Buti Foundation Award

Starting from 2007, PRL has instituted Buti Foundation Award, along the lines of Hari Om Awards, from an Endowment fund established by the Buti Foundation, Delhi. The award is given biennially to a person below 45 years for innovative and outstanding research work done in India in the field of Plasma Science and Technology.

The award carries a Citation, a Medal and a Cash Prize of Rs.50,000/-. The last date for receiving nominations for the award for 2009 is July 31,2009. Details and proforma for nomination are provided in the link given above.
