DOCTORAL (Ph.D.) PROGRAMME

PRL is an autonomous institution under the Department of Space and was established in 1947. The current areas of research at PRL are Astronomy and Astrophysics, Earth Sciences, Planetary Sciences & Exploration, Space and Atmospheric Sciences, Theoretical Physics, and Experimental Laser and Atomic Physics. We have two campuses at Ahmedabad and astronomical and solar observatories at Mt. Abu and Udaipur respectively.

Admission is through a written test and / or interview, which will be conducted at PRL.

Research scholars are awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for the first two years, and subsequently a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for the remaining years. A JRF receives a stipend of Rs. 12,000 per month and an SRF receives a stipend of Rs. 14,000 per month. A book grant of Rs. 5000 per year is given to all research scholars.

List of Selected candidates for JRF-2009 at PRL

The completed application should reach PRL on or before the last date mentioned in the advertisement (March 20, 2009). Last date for on line submission is 15th March 2009 (CLOSED).

Candidates who have appeared in JEST 2009 and/or GATE 2009 should resubmit the online application (using the same registration number and password) with their JEST 2009 and/or GATE 2009 scores latest by March 15, 2009.
